The Land Trust Society
The Juan de Fuca Community Land Trust Society was established to
acquire environmentally-important properties on southwestern Vancouver Island
for public enjoyment and habitat preservation.
On May 17, 2019, the Society passed a motion to dissolve, and as of December 11, 2019, the Society has distributed all of its assets to qualified charities.

July 22, 2015:
The Society has embarked on a campaign advocating for the preservation of the Muir watershed.
We are working with the
Juan de Fuca Community Trails
Society and with the blessing of the now-dormant
Muir Creek Protection
Society.
Although the Muir watershed has been extensively logged, pockets of old growth remain and the rest will recover.
If protected it will once again be a splendid forest. Working together, the two Societies have recommended to
the Regional Parks Committee that they purchase the parcels that encompass the Muir estuary. This would be a
first step towards protection of the entire watershed.
There is no guarantee that hoped for funding will materialize or be enough or that the Parks Committee will
apply it to the Muir. However, you can help us raise the profile and priority of acquiring the Muir by donating
to the JdF Community Land Trust Society.
